Creation of new employment and training facilities
Opportunity existed to convert an existing underutilised building into a productive facility, providing immediate skill development for the building team and delivering a long term productive training facility for the Community in a commercial bakery and beauty salon.
With the project completed within a tight capital budget of $250,000, Kowanyama now has a fully operational bakery delivering fresh bread & baked goods daily. More than that, the café has become a new social gathering space for all. Equally it is a source of pride for the new trainees and a powerful outcome for locally delivered projects.
