Blue Sky Bar, Cairns Airport
It´s not always the case that the second generation of a design is an improvement on the original, but i this has been the universal response for the Blue Sky Brewery bar at the Cairns Airport. Seen by the Brewery operators as the design foundation for the growth of the brewery group into new outlets; this facility distils the essential ingredients into a unique approach to the design for airport bars. Fresh, light and inviting to all patron demographics, the venue has proven a financial success for the operator from opening to close every day of the year.
Whilst the keg is the signature design element, the planning of the bar is a fundamental element of the success. The long angle bar plan serves to invite patrons from afar; enable views through to the exterior garden; whilst providing ample length for service and seating. With the keg wall behind and the suspended frozen beer fonts, this design unmistakably defines the brands. Blond timbers and dark brown stone combine with the brewery imagery for a fresh palette.
Myriad was responsible for the complete project delivery from the design, all licensing and approval requirements, equipment & glycol specification, tender & project coordination – all within the challenges inherent in an operating airport project.
